The World Cup Liechtenstein in the class F3A is based on an old tradition of the Modellfluggruppe Liechtenstein. During the last decades this competition grew tremendously and is now a substantial part of european pilot's competition calendar. On one side it is the great infrastructure and on the other hand the perfect organization which makes this competition a special event. Besides the world championship and the continental championships, our competition became one of the biggest in the world.
Please find below some important documents about the competition:
The 56th F3A World Cup in Liechtenstein 2024 is over and the winners have received their prizes. The prizes were handed over by our patron H.S.H. Prince Hubertus of Liechtenstein.
The ranking was very close. The winner of our competition is Sandro MATTI from Switzerland with 2986.95 points. Rank 2 was Christian NIKLASS from Germany with 2984.59 points and Rank 3 Stefan KAISER from Liechtenstein. He received 2962.24 points.
A very big thank you goes to our judges, jury members and the contest director. They were awarded with a small present and a diploma for their big efforts to this successful competition.
In our competion, every pilot receives a present. Lady luck Selina drew the ranks of all pilots and allowed all pilots to chose a prize from the gift table.
Now we want to say thank you to all of you, who contributed to the success of this year's competition. We wish everybody a nice trip home and hope to see you all again next year.
Please find a detailed ranking list above.
All preliminary rounds are now finished and we decided to let six pilots a try in the final. Please find above the starting list and the ranking of the preliminary.
The competition is running very smooth at the moment. It is hard to find something to write. The flying conditions are quite calm, but for the judges the cold temperatures and the few raindrops make their job a bit uncomfortable.
This morning we started with the third round of the preliminary. As yesterday, the weather is better than forecasted. There is only a little bit of rain and almost no wind. Before we started, it seemed that the clouds were hanging a bit low. But a test flight showed that that was not the case.
Today's plan is that all pilots can fly a third round. After that a small number of pilots will be given the chance to fly the much more challenging programm F-25 in a final if the conditions allow it.
This year, we tried something new for the gala dinner. The catering team "Salz und Pfeffer" served us a very delicious meal. First we got a very special Ribelmais-soup. Then we were served many different paninis. But for the dessert we made it the same way as in the last years: the club members and their wives created an amazing dessert buffet. We hope that everybody got enough and enjoyed it as much as we did.
The first two rounds were successfully finished. Tomorrow we are going to fly the third round of the preliminary. This round will be judged by all 10 judges.
Please find the ranking list of round 1 and round 2 above.
It seems that the Föhn helped to push away the heavy rain and we will be able to finish the first two rounds with just a few drops of water from the sky. Even the sun is shining a little bit now.
Currently, the final preparations for our gala dinner are on going and we are really looking forward to that event.
Especially for our Swiss guests and club members it is a special day today. The Swiss national team is playing against England in the quarter finals in the UEFA EURO 2024. Hopefully, they are as lucky, as we are with the weather. HOPP SCHWIIZ!!
We used the short break after all pilots finished their first flight to take a group photo of all pilots.
Still good in time, the last pilot finished his first flight. The conditions are still challenging, but the wind got a bit weaker. Hopefully, this is not a sign for the rain to come.
At our competition, every pilot gets a certificate with his personal photo. Those photos are taken by a professional photographer.
Currently, the competition is running that smoothly, that even some of the many club members which are making this competition possible have some time for a little break.
Our kitchen crew is working overtime to make sure that everybody gets one of their delicious menus for lunch. They are also offering many different drinks and also some desserts.
Our pilots are working hard against the Föhn (strong, gusty, warm wind from the south). The conditions are very challenging at the moment. But, the conditions are similar for every pilot at least.
But the Föhn has also some advantages and makes the spectators enjoy the warm temperatures.
At the briefing, Daniel Schierscher, our president, welcomed all pilots, judges, jury members and spectators to our competition. Nick Schädler, the contest director, pointed out the rules of this competition before a calibration for all judges was done by the voluntary pilot Philip.
On time at 8:00 we could start our competition.
The weather is still good and warm. But due to the wind also quite challenging for our pilots. Let's hope that the Föhn (warm wind from the south) will push out the forecasted rain to later in the night.
Registration finished - starting list is ready
The registration is now finished and 39 pilots have successfully registered for the competition.
The starting lists for the first three rounds are also finished and can be found above.
Tomorrow, we are going to start the competition. The briefing will be held at 7:45 and we want to start the competition at 8:00.
The registration has started and every pilot is drawing his starting number. Some pilots also enjoy the good weather and use the time for some practice flights.
The first pilots have already arrived on Tuesday. Unfortunately, the weather was not perfect over the last few days. We hope that we are going to have good weather at least for the weekend.
