Jets

Since the late 90's the first jets with real turbine began to appear. The first members how started in this category was Ludwig Matt and Hansruedi Baumgartner. Ludwig Matt, who accompanied Wolfgang Matt to a great competition in Japan saw models equipped with this new and young technique and was immediately caught by this jetvirus, so this infection was brought to Liechtenstein. Hansruedi was also immediately fascinated by this technique and since this time visitors can admire models flying with more than 350km/h on our airfield. The MFGL counted in 2002 already 4 jet pilots.

The sound and the smell of kerosene gives a feeling of real jets and can't be compared with an other category in the radio controlled modelling. Nevertheless, the sound emission is lower than for normal engines. The actual turbines can be started without any help, only by switching it on with the radio. An electronic device is starting a small electro motor which brings the turbine up to 5000 rpm, then gas is injected and ignited, the turbine runs up to 30000 rpm, now the kerosene is injected and the turbine starts to work. All this ignition procedure takes about one minute and then the show can begin.
